2009…
“Kroll-Roberts Gallery Opening”
December 14, 2008My sister and her husband had the official opening of their gallery the other night. They have been working like dogs to get it finished and ready for the this event and it turned out really nice and was a great success. Located in Laguna Beach, California it is located 2 blocks north of the museum where they have been members and show participants for the last ten years. They have both won many awards for their work and are represented by other galleries . They both teach workshops both here and throughout the country and stay quite busy. I have been going down on the weekends to help out and must say the gallery is beautiful. Take a look at www.krollroberts.com.
“The last year…”
December 10, 2008Photographically speaking this last year was a good one for me. I was able to donate a couple of my images for a calendar in Poland on sea kayaking. I was also motivated enough to start going through my old negatives and get some scans done of older work. This body of work in particular is some of my most important as it defined my style of editorial photography and is something I have made a decision to get back to.
“Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells…”
December 9, 2008Christmas is coming oh boy!!! We’re getting a real tree this year. I figure heck if they cut ‘em down why not use ‘em. Besides, they make great bon fires when it’s all over.
There will be presents under the tree.
And as always, “keep the faith!” (I took that from Travis Smiley)
The second half…
December 3, 2008At 52 I’m starting the second half of my life, I think. I now just have to figure out what to do with it.
Professionally I am a photographer and though I work in-house what I enjoy most is editorial photography. Commercial photography pays the bills but my editorial work is what keeps me moving through life. I could be sitting at a lunch counter, look up and suddenly see an image like “Tasty Town”. A favorite hang out of mine when I lived in Milwaukee was a newspaper stand downtown where I captured images such as “Man on street” and “Girl on bus”. New York presented me with images such as “Tourists” and “Husband and wife”. For me this is what photography is all about, capturing the moments that when added together, make up my life. I’ve posted a few images here. Take a look, let me know what you think.
Thanks.
My first blog…
November 29, 2008I never got around to putting up a webpage. Oh I went through all the necessary steps to create one, gathering and processing images, designing the pages, thinking of what other sites to link to but never quite got around to actually putting it all together. BAH I say. I wanted something I could easily add to on a daily basis without having to hire a web guru or learn yet another computer program. Enter my good friend Mark Quo and his suggestion to check out blogging. Thank you Mark! So here it is, my first attempt at a presence on the web. Enjoy!
